The search leads toward Hearts United, a prominent humanitarian organization whose respectable public mission conceals a network of corruption. The involvement of Liesel’s sister, Caspian’s brother, and other figures close to them intensifies the series’ recurring tension between family and duty. Secrecy is no longer protecting the people they love; it is drawing those people into the conflict.
The novels move through international intelligence services, black programs, private technology, political influence, trafficking networks, and organizations able to disguise covert power behind legitimate institutions.
