About Patrick Larkin
Patrick Larkin is an American novelist and former speechwriter whose career has been shaped largely by collaborative military, geopolitical, and espionage thrillers. He is closely associated with bestselling authors Larry Bond and Dale Brown, although his contribution has not always been equally visible on book covers or in casual bibliographies. Larkin has also written historical fiction under his own name and contributed two novels to Robert Ludlum’s Covert-One franchise.
Raised in Kennewick, Washington, Larkin studied at the University of Chicago. Before becoming a professional novelist, he worked in political communications in Washington, D.C. His assignments included writing speeches for Republican members of the United States House of Representatives and for Secretary of Energy John S. Herrington. He later moved to California and worked as a corporate speechwriter. This background gave him practical experience in political language, institutional priorities, and the ways public officials present complex policies to a wider audience—subjects that would become important in his fiction.
Larkin’s emergence as a thriller writer came through his partnership with Larry Bond, the naval analyst, wargame designer, and co-author of Tom Clancy’s Red Storm Rising.
