Jeff Lindsay is an American crime novelist best known for creating Dexter Morgan, the forensic blood-spatter analyst and secret vigilante killer introduced in Darkly Dreaming Dexter. The Dexter novels stand apart from conventional crime fiction through their dark humor,... first-person narration, moral ambiguity, and unsettling contrast between ordinary life and hidden violence. Set largely in Miami, the series follows Dexter as he balances police work, family ties, and the “Code of Harry,” the rules that shape his killings and his idea of justice. The character later became widely known through the television adaptation Dexter, though the books follow their own path. Lindsay has also written the Riley Wolfe series, continuing his interest in clever, morally complicated protagonists who operate outside the law.
