About Triple Threat

Irene Hannon’s Triple Threat series is a three-book Christian romantic-suspense sequence centered on the Reilly sisters—Eve, Cate, and Grace—three women whose careers repeatedly place them close to crime, danger, and difficult investigations. The trilogy consists of Point of Danger, Labyrinth of Lies, and Body of Evidence. Each novel gives one sister her own case and romance while maintaining continuity through the Reilly family. Their different professions also allow Hannon to approach suspense from the perspectives of journalism, law enforcement, and forensic medicine.

Point of Danger introduces Eve Reilly, a conservative radio talk-show host in St. Louis whose willingness to express controversial opinions has earned her both a loyal audience and determined enemies. When a suspicious package is left outside her home and threatening incidents begin escalating, police detective Brent Lange becomes involved.

Eve is accustomed to criticism and initially resists allowing intimidation to alter her life or work. Brent, however, has to determine whether the threats are merely intended to frighten her or represent preparation for something more serious. The investigation becomes complicated by the number of people who might resent a public figure whose opinions are broadcast daily. Hannon uses Eve’s visibility to examine how difficult protection becomes when a potential victim cannot simply withdraw from public life without giving the person threatening her exactly what they want.

Labyrinth of Lies shifts the focus to Cate Reilly, a St. Louis County detective who goes undercover at an exclusive girls’ boarding school. A student has disappeared, and the investigation suggests that the apparently respectable institution may conceal activity far removed from its privileged public image.

Cate unexpectedly encounters Zeke Sloan, a former romantic interest who is conducting his own undercover operation at the school. Neither can freely reveal the details of the assignment, creating tension between professional secrecy and their unresolved personal history. Their investigations gradually converge as they discover that the disappearance may be connected to a much larger criminal operation. The undercover setting makes deception unavoidable: almost everyone is presenting a carefully constructed version of themselves, including the investigators.

Body of Evidence completes the trilogy with Grace Reilly, a forensic pathologist and county medical examiner in rural Missouri. Grace notices similarities among several deaths that initially appear natural or unrelated. Her professional instincts suggest a pattern, but proving that suspicion requires evidence strong enough to demonstrate that the deaths are actually murders.

Sheriff Nate Cox becomes involved as Grace’s concerns develop into a potentially dangerous investigation. Unlike the immediate threats facing Eve or Cate’s undercover assignment, Grace’s case begins with scientific observation. Bodies that can no longer explain what happened to them become the evidence she must interpret, giving the final novel a strong forensic dimension.

The Reilly sisters provide the trilogy’s central continuity. Eve works in media, Cate investigates crimes directly, and Grace examines their physical consequences. Their professions are different enough to make each novel distinct, but their close family relationship means the sisters continue appearing beyond their individual stories. Publication order therefore provides the most natural reading experience even though each investigation reaches its own conclusion.

Faith and trust remain important throughout the trilogy, particularly because all three sisters are independent women accustomed to relying on their own judgment. The romances do not replace that competence. Instead, danger forces Eve, Cate, and Grace to decide when accepting another person’s help represents strength rather than surrendering control.

Triple Threat ultimately earns its title from the Reilly sisters themselves. A broadcaster unwilling to be intimidated, a detective prepared to work undercover, and a forensic pathologist willing to question apparently ordinary deaths approach truth from very different directions. Across the trilogy, Hannon connects them through family loyalty and a shared refusal to ignore evidence simply because accepting it would be easier.
