About Ruthless Boys Of The Zodiac
Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti’s Ruthless Boys Of The Zodiac series is a dark paranormal reverse-harem romance set in Solaria, the same fae world later made famous through Zodiac Academy and Darkmore Penitentiary. The series begins with Dark Fae and follows Elise Callisto, a vampire determined to uncover the truth behind the death of her brother, Gareth. Her search takes her to Aurora Academy, a dangerous magical school ruled by powerful heirs, gang rivalries, secrets, and four men who may know more about Gareth’s death than they admit.
Elise is the force that gives the series its shape. She arrives at Aurora Academy with grief, anger, and a clear purpose: find out what happened to Gareth and make the guilty pay. As a vampire, she already belongs to Solaria’s supernatural hierarchy, but that does not make her safe. Aurora is a place where power is constantly tested, and Elise quickly finds herself surrounded by dangerous personalities tied to rival Orders and criminal factions. Her investigation becomes harder because the people she suspects are also the people she cannot stop being drawn toward.
The four central male leads each bring a different kind of danger into Elise’s world. Gabriel Nox, a powerful harpy with visions, is tied to fate and secrets. Leon Night, a lion shifter, brings charm, chaos, and a deceptively playful energy. Dante Oscura, a storm dragon and gang heir, carries the weight of family power and criminal loyalty. Ryder Draconis, a basilisk and rival gang leader, is colder, harsher, and more openly threatening. Together, they create the emotional and romantic structure of the series: not a simple love triangle, but a tangled web of attraction, suspicion, rivalry, and reluctant trust.
The academy setting gives the early books their pressure, but Ruthless Boys is not only a school romance. The story quickly widens into gang politics, supernatural power struggles, family loyalty, revenge, and the mystery of what Gareth was involved in before he died. That mystery is important because it keeps the series moving beyond romance alone. Elise’s relationships with the men are intense, but her grief and need for answers remain central. She is not at Aurora simply to fall in love; she is there to expose the truth, even if doing so makes enemies of people she wants.
The series also works as a prequel branch of the wider Solaria universe. It takes place before Zodiac Academy and gives important background to characters and families who later matter in that world, especially Gabriel, Leon, Dante, Ryder, and Rosalie Oscura. Readers who begin with Ruthless Boys get a deeper look at Solaria’s criminal undercurrents, Orders, and academy culture before the Vega twins enter the larger royal conflict.
As the books continue through Savage Fae, Vicious Fae, Broken Fae, and Warrior Fae, the emotional stakes grow heavier. The central mystery becomes more dangerous, the romantic bonds become harder to deny, and Elise is forced to decide what justice means when vengeance, love, and loyalty begin to collide. The series is dark, dramatic, and full of sharp reversals, but its strongest pull is Elise herself: a grieving sister who refuses to be controlled, even by fate.
Ruthless Boys Of The Zodiac is best understood as a murder-mystery-driven, reverse-harem romantasy inside the Solaria world. Its appeal lies in the mix of academy danger, supernatural Orders, gang rivalry, found family, and a heroine who walks into a nest of predators determined not to become prey.
