Rina Kent’s Vipers series is a dark college hockey romance trilogy set at Graystone University, where athletic fame conceals a more dangerous system of influence. The Vipers dominate on the ice, but their power extends through Vencor, an elite secret society governed by legacy, privilege, and carefully protected secrets. Each novel follows a different couple while continuing the friendships, rivalries, criminal entanglements, and hidden conflicts surrounding the team.
The series opens with Beautiful Venom, centered on Dahlia Thorne and Vipers captain Kane Davenport. Dahlia arrives at Graystone as a scholarship student with a private objective: uncover the organization responsible for destroying the life she knew. Her investigation leads toward Vencor, but reaching the people behind it requires infiltrating a circle designed to exclude outsiders. Kane appears to be the most approachable member of the Vipers, making him the logical person for Dahlia to target.
His charm proves deceptive. Kane is observant, controlling, and far more dangerous than the reassuring image he presents to the university. Dahlia approaches him expecting to use attraction as access, only to discover that he has recognized her manipulation and begun constructing a game of his own. Their romance develops through revenge, secret-society rituals, unequal power, and the gradual exposure of the violence hidden beneath both characters’ intentions.
Sweet Venom shifts attention to Jude Callahan and Violet Winters. Violet becomes connected to a brutal murder and attempts to escape without acknowledging what she witnessed. Jude, a celebrated Vipers player with a reputation others are reluctant to challenge, refuses to let her disappear. His pursuit transforms the second novel into a stalker romance in which protection, punishment, and possession become deliberately difficult to separate.
The relationship also widens the series beyond the original attempt to infiltrate Vencor. Jude’s history and emotional instability reveal another side of the team’s carefully maintained public identity, while Violet’s connection to Dahlia strengthens the continuity between the first two books. Their story is darker and more psychologically volatile, dealing with trauma, neglected children, family violence, and two people whose survival instincts place them in direct conflict.
The trilogy concludes with Tempting Venom, a male-male romance between Preston Armstrong and Marcus Osborn, captains of rival college hockey teams. Preston is provocative, reckless, and accustomed to turning other people’s emotions into entertainment. Marcus is one of the few opponents who neither submits to his manipulation nor retreats from confrontation. Their hostility develops into an intensely physical rivalry that threatens their careers, family expectations, and the identities both have constructed around dominance.
Although every book completes its principal romance, the characters remain part of one continuing athletic and social environment. Kane, Jude, and Preston are teammates before becoming individual romantic leads, while Marcus’s rivalry with the Vipers develops before his own story reaches the foreground. Reading the trilogy as a sequence preserves those changing alliances and gives later confrontations the history that makes them significant.
The Vipers books belong to the wider Rinaverse, with family connections linking them to characters from the Villain series.
